With the start of the war in Ukraine, the “Robert, Adam” Foundation took action to support people whose country was affected by the war.
The first action taken by the foundation was the organization of a collection, in which the inhabitants of Białystok were asked to bring food, hygiene products and medicines. In addition, the R.A Foundation also purchased the necessary articles, which were donated to hospitals in Ukraine and handed over to refugees.
When the citizens of Ukraine had to flee the war-torn country, the R.A. Foundation, thinking about long-term assistance, started renting out the first apartments with the intention of making them available to refugees free of charge. The number of refugees arriving in Białystok was increasing day by day, thus the R.A. Foundation she was constantly looking for and renting more apartments, which were occupied almost immediately. These apartments are rented for a period of six months. The Foundation intends to extend this period, if necessary. R.A. Foundation covers all expenses, such as: rental costs, current fees and equips apartments with the necessary articles needed for living.
As part of helping refugees from Ukraine, the Foundation rented a total of 55 apartments, where 197 people found shelter. Well-equipped, spacious premises allow for safety and adaptation in a new place. All families who received a flat from the R.A. are constantly supported by our volunteers. They receive regular legal assistance, help in finding a job, kindergartens for children or information on medical assistance. So far, we have issued 378 food parcels.
The goal of the Foundation is, above all, that people from war-torn areas feel peace and a sense of security. Refugees receive long-term assistance that will allow them to adapt to Białystok and regain a substitute for their lost home.

R.A. Foundation actively participates in meetings and conferences regarding refugees staying in Białystok. On March 21, representatives of the Foundation participated in a press conference, the topic of which was cooperation between Białystok and the city of Hoboken, located in the state of New Jersey in the eastern USA. Thanks to the initiative of Małgorzata Właszczuk Thomerson (former AZS Białystok volleyball player), cooperation between the two cities was established.
The City Hall in Hoboken, not being indifferent to the situation in Ukraine, organized a fundraiser for refugees arriving in Białystok. Thanks to numerous actions in which the inhabitants of Hoboken participated, an impressive amount was collected, which will cover 2 months of rent in the apartments rented by the R. A. Foundation. Thanks to the open hearts of the inhabitants of Hoboken and help flowing from across the ocean, refugees arriving in Białystok can regain a substitute for home. However, the damage caused by the war in the cities of Ukraine means that the number of refugees continues to grow and housing needs are still very high.
On March 22, 2022, a conference was held to express thanks to the inhabitants of Hoboken and the initiator of this noble initiative.
The community of the American city of Hoboken will financially support help for Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war. Thanks to this money, it will be possible to provide housing to refugees staying in our city. This is an example of cooperation between the inhabitants of two cities, from Poland and the United States, under the auspices of local authorities.

Thanks to constant cooperation with the chain of grocery stores “Chorten”, Fundacja R.A. provides all charges with food, products commonly found in the kitchen cupboard, as well as hygiene and medical articles. Regular purchases are made for refugees staying in rented apartments, which can be picked up from the Foundation’s warehouse. During the holiday season, the Foundation places additional orders for parcels that bring joy to refugee homes, and thanks to the deliveries of employees of the “Chorten” network, it is possible to bring smiles back to the faces of Ukrainian refugee families.
The Foundation is in constant cooperation with the Center for Social Activity and the Municipal Crisis Management Center of the City of Białystok, thanks to which the needs and problems that accompany refugees staying in Białystok are monitored on an ongoing basis.
Moreover, the beneficiaries of the R.A. participate in initiatives organized by the City of Białystok, such as a common Easter breakfast. Thanks to such wonderful initiatives, people fleeing the war could feel at home for a while and spend this special, though difficult time in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.
Thanks to the kindness of people with a big heart, the generous gestures of our donors reach the Foundation both from other Polish cities and from abroad.

On the occasion of Children’s Day, the R.A. Foundation brings joy and smile to the faces of the youngest and thanks to the cooperation with the Bajkowe Marzenia Foundation, we managed to make this day special. The children received packages with toys, board games and, additionally, they could forget about the traumatic experiences of escaping from their war-torn country, spending time with fairy-tale characters.

On July 25, a free Polish language course for refugees from Ukraine began, organized by the R.A. Foundation. 25 people took part in the course, and all participants were equipped with textbooks for learning Polish, dedicated to Slavic groups. The course was conducted by an experienced pedagogue, academic teacher Mrs. Doctor Bożena Bolesta-Wrona.
The first day of integration of children from Poland and Ukraine is behind us! At the beginning we visited the Sybir Memorial Museum. We participated with the children in short workshops, and then we went on a prepared thematic path. The youngest listened with great interest to the guide who showed them around this interesting place. We would like to thank the employees of the Museum for the extraordinary passion they put into this educational meeting. After all, it was time for dinner together. Pizza is undoubtedly a dish that everyone loves, so it should come as no surprise that it disappeared in the blink of an eye.
As part of the R.A. Foundation’s project, we took the children to the trampoline park. It is a good place to let off steam and use your energy. Children from Poland and Ukraine could play together and get to know each other. As you can see in the attached photos, it was a lot of fun.
On the occasion of Mikołajki, the “Robert, Adam” Foundation organized a meeting during which our charges, and in particular their children, could feel the atmosphere of the upcoming Christmas. A big thank you to everyone who helped us organize our Santa Claus. We would especially like to thank the entire Hampton by Hilton Białystok crew with Ms. Magdalena Szklanko at the helm, representatives of the Lowlanders Białystok team, Chorten Group, Honorary Consulate of Finland in Białystok, directors, teachers and students of primary schools No. 2 and 15 and the Special School Complex No. 16 in Białystok and to the crazy and supporting team of the “Fairytale Factory of Hope” Foundation.
